Understand Gift Policy Exceptions
The UVA Gift Policy Committee considers compelling requests for exceptions to policies related to the acceptance of gifts by the University. Examples of requests considered by the Committee include, but are not limited to, exceptions to the following gift acceptance policies: unusual restrictions imposed by the donor or benefitting unit on the use of a gift; minimum endowment levels; charitable gift annuity payment rates; age requirement to establish gift annuities; and minimum gift levels to establish charitable remainder unitrusts.
All requests to the Gift Policy Committee are facilitated through the Office of the Vice President for Advancement. In order to be presented to the Committee, requests submitted by schools and units should be clearly written, provide thorough background, and make a compelling case for the exception. For any questions related to gift acceptance or the Committee, contact the Office of the Vice President for Advancement.
