Stewarding UVA Health Donors Current & Future

Our work supports collaborative patient care, research, education, and the everyday lifesaving work of the UVA Health development schools, departments, and centers. In addition, members of our team support the work of the UVA Health Foundation in their priorities of resource development, financial stewardship, and advocacy among donor constituencies.

Collaborative Programs and Services

Get Involved

Get Involved is a tool that patients, families, and supporters can use to raise money for UVA Health. It is a do-it-yourself fundraising page, similar to a GoFundMe, and gifts come directly to UVA Health. Contact Maggie to learn more.

 

Strategic Alumni Engagement

We implement strategic engagement activities for the School of Nursing’s alumni constituencies while also managing the activities of the School of Nursing’s volunteer alumni board. We play an integral role in the Donor Relations & Strategic Engagement team’s stewardship activities for School of Nursing donors. Contact Maggie or Melanie to learn more.

 

Third Party Events

We provide a toolkit outlining policies and resources for community members who wish to raise money for UVA Health. Please share the Third Party Event Toolkit with patients, families, and community members who wish to host events. Contact Maggie to learn more.


University Annual Giving

We partner with the University Advancement Direct Marketing team to solicit and renew gifts through direct mail, email, text-to-give, and social media. Additionally, we utilize the Grateful Patient Portal to engage patients and families who wish to support UVA Health. Contact Maggie to discuss new ideas for projects.

 

Board of Visitors Naming and Professorship Policies

We manage all UVA Health actions that require BOV notification and/or approval which includes naming’s and professorships. Once 51% of the funding for either has been received, these actions can be brought to the BOV. We research and provide all of the paperwork for these actions and ensure they are brought to the BOV at the appropriate meeting in a timely way. Contact Ros to learn more.

 

Gift Acknowledgment Letters 

We utilize a comprehensive matrix for completing gift acknowledgments on a weekly basis.  Our team ensures that acknowledgements are strategic for our leadership and meaningful to our donors.  Contact Pam, Robyn or Paige to learn more.

 

Holiday Cards

Our team oversees the production of Thanksgiving cards each year.  We provide proposals for each team (HPP, Cancer, Children’s, SOM, SON, Community Health and Principal Gifts) for review/approval.  Once approval is complete, we handle the printing logistics, ensuring the cards arrive by early November.  Individual teams handle the addressing and mailing of the cards to their prospects/donors.  Contact Paige to learn more.

 

IMO and IHO notifications

We provide monthly notifications of gifts made in memory of loved ones to families as well as notification to honorees of gifts in honor.  We work with development officers to provide a customized notification schedule when requested.  Contact Robyn to learn more.

 

ThankView

ThankView is a video software designed to collect, add, caption, and edit videos to connect with donors when looking to strengthen or steward a strategic relationship. The system can be used to form full branded video campaigns to accompany stewardship reports, craft holiday or thank you messaging, or as a portal for submitting video messages. We are able to assist in managing ThankView campaigns and collateral. Contact Paige to learn more.

Donor Gifts

Our team is able to assist Development Officers in selecting appropriate gifts for their donors marking milestones in their giving to UVA Health, including personalization options. Contact Ros to learn more.

 

Gift Closet

Our team manages a small inventory of gifts to be used for visits and follow-up stewardship. Contact Robyn to learn more.

 

Giving Society

Compass Rose Society: UVA Health’s only giving society welcomes individuals and family members (that give through family foundations) with $250K cumulative giving to UVA Health. Contact Ros to learn more.

 

Life event stewardship gifts (expressions of sympathy, get well)

Our team provides assistance/coordination when there is an occasion to send flowers/plants, a food gift basket or other appropriate stewardship gifts for qualifying donor life events.  Contact Robyn to learn more.

 

Stewardship Plans

We work with our major gift officers to keep stewardship of our top donors with additional capacity in mind and on track. We typically meet at least twice a year to review their portfolios and see what stewardship is appropriate to encourage continued engagement and additional giving. Contact Ros to learn more.

Stewardship Reporting

We report on School of Medicine, School of Nursing and Medical Center allocations residing at the Health Foundation or University (R&V). We track all required stewardship reporting as stated in gift agreements for both endowed and expendable (current-use) gifts. Benefitting faculty, students, departments, divisions, and centers are responsible for providing content on the funded activity when requested to ensure meaningful and timely reporting. As report deadlines approach, DR team prompts report content from a beneficiary, partnering with DOs. Contact Karyn to learn more. 

Events

We manage events showcasing: UVA Health Leadership, the UVA Health Foundation Board of Trustees, academic focus, campaign initiatives, milestone achievements, volunteer-led and third party, department fundraising, and stewardship.

Event-Site Visits (RD)

We coordinate event and site visits for major donors have an academic focus, involving multiple meetings with faculty and staff meant to share significant and detailed information on the areas and projects the donor has funded in addition to social components. Contact Ros to learn more.
