UA Leadership Forum - Demystifying Performance Improvement with Employee Relations

Tuesday, May 20 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST | Virtual on Zoom
In this session, led by HR’s Employee Relations team, we will demystify the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) process and explore how it fits within UVA’s progressive discipline protocol. Often seen as a tool for addressing performance concerns, progressive discipline can also be a valuable resource for promoting employee growth and success. This engaging, interactive workshop will include activities, group discussions, and analysis of sample case studies to help you apply existing policies and procedures proactively. You’ll learn how to manage performance improvement conversations with confidence, provide actionable feedback, and leverage HR support when navigating these processes. By the end of the session, you’ll be equipped to use progressive discipline and PIPs as tools for fostering growth and addressing challenges in a supportive and effective way. This session is part of the UA Leadership Forum and is open to managers in University Advancement.

Community News & Announcements

With summer being a busy season for international travel, we wanted to share a couple of reminders.
The long-awaited construction is underway on the Route 601 Bridge that runs over 250/29 on Old Ivy Road.
Since early December, UVA Health Orthopedic staff have been parking in the IVY2 parking permit area due to construction in the U7 parking lot on Ivy Mountain. This shift has introduced more vehicles into the IVY2 parking deck and associated surface parking lot. Additional vehicles will continue parking here through the opening of the expanded U7 parking lot sometime in Spring 2025.
As we wrap up 2024 and embark on the final year of both the Honor the Future Campaign and the Advancement CRM Transformation Project, I am writing on behalf of the University Advancement Technology Steering Committee (UATSC) to provide updates and to share what we have planned for Winter Week of Learning.
A six-person committee including faculty steeped in democracy and public policy expertise has recommended to University of Virginia President Jim Ryan that he only consider issuing statements on national and international events when those events directly affect the University.
